Veterinary Exam

Assessing your pet’s overall health with a comprehensive check-up.

Your pet's veterinary exam is a way for us to check on their health. Any good relationship between a pet, their owner, and their veterinarian includes consistent visits so we can stay-up-to-date with any sudden changes. To book your pet's next veterinary exam, please contact us at 604-522-3344.

How often does my pet need a veterinary exam?

Time flies, especially in dog and cat years. Your pet's routine veterinary exam provides us with insight into their health in between appointments. An annual exam for your pet, similar to those for yourself, should be performed at least once every 12 months. A semi-annual wellness exam should be performed by your veterinarian every 6 months once your pet reaches 8 years of age. A physical exam is a comprehensive assessment of your pets' health. Based on our findings, your veterinarian can discuss any concerns, make recommendations, and work with you to keep your pet as healthy as possible.

What does my pet's physical include?

Your pet's physical plan is only one component of your pet's visit. A physical exam means thoroughly evaluating your pet's vision, hearing, reflexes, mobility, skin condition, heartbeat, breathing, and teeth. For any body parts we can't examine externally, we depend on diagnostic testing like in-house bloodwork, X-rays, and ultrasounds to provide us with a comprehensive look at your pet's health. (Please note these diagnostics are ordered only when necessary and are not always conducted during checkups.) A physical exam may also include other procedures to maintain your pet's overall health, including:

  • Vaccination
  • Deworming
  • Heartworm testing
  • Microchipping
  • Dental care
